About the event

Department of Chemical Engineering (Dept of Chem Eng) and Wadhwani Research Centre for Bioengineering (WRCB) announce their two-day, in-person summit in Biopharma. With the rising demand for drugs and therapies, the biopharma industry is expanding at a rapid pace. With the rapid growth of the biopharmaceutical market in India, it is essential to establish collaborations between various stakeholders such as academia, industry, government, clinicians and more. The global progression of the biopharma industry has resulted in the development and approval of cell and gene therapies for a wide range of conditions. Besides new therapeutics, major advancements in drug discovery and process development have been associated with the use of AI/ML-powered tools and integrated omics technologies.

Event convener

Dr. Pramod P. Wangikar

Professor of Chemical Engineering, IIT Bombay

Dr. Wangikar is the co-ordinator of “DBT PAN IIT Center for Bioenergy”, which is spread across five IITs. He works closely with industry and has undertaken several projects sponsored by industries such as Praj Industries Ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd., JSW Steel, Lupin Ltd., and Persistent Systems Ltd. He has published over 110 research articles. Pramod Wangikar received his B. Chem. Eng. degree from ICT Mumbai (formerly UDCT Mumbai) and Ph.D. from University of Iowa. Recently, he has founded a start-up company “Clarity Bio Systems” to develop mass spectrometry-based technologies for metabolomics.
